WE CELEBRATE WHEN PEOPLE ACT IN OBEDIENCE TO TITHE AND GIVE TO IMAGINE TO FURTHER THE REACH OF PEOPLE WE CAN AFFECT WITH THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS THROUGH STARTING MORE COMMUNITIES.

OUR BELIEFS

JESUS. LIFE. HOLY SPIRIT. ETERNITY.

JESUS.

THE FALL OF MAN – We believe that Adam and Eve, the precursors of the entire human race, were created in the image of God; however, they disobeyed God and became sinners. Through Adam, all people inherited sin’s nature and consequences, and all are in need of a Redeemer (Genesis 1:27; Romans 5:12-19).

THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION – We believe that Christ died for all of us while we were still sinners; He took the punishment for our sin. With His own blood, He purchased salvation and redemption for all who believe in Him (John 3:16; Isaiah 53:5; Titus 2:14).

SALVATION THROUGH GRACE – We believe that salvation is totally an act of God’s grace that is accessed through faith in Jesus Christ. No person can be good enough to earn salvation, and “being good” does not contribute to receiving God’s love and favor (Ephesians 2:8-13).

REPENTANCE & ACCEPTANCE – We believe that, when people repent for their sins and accept Christ, they are justified through Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross. To repent means to be sorry for sins, but it also means to turn away from a sinful lifestyle. Accepting Christ means believing in Him as the only Savior. To be justified means being declared “not guilty” in regard to sin (Romans 10:9-10; 1 John 1:9).

THE NEW BIRTH – We believe that the change that takes place in people when they are “born again” is very real. They receive righteousness through Jesus Christ, and they are empowered by the Holy Spirit; therefore, they should have new desires, interests and pursuits (John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

DIVINE HEALING – We believe that Jesus Christ heals people who are sick. God does not change; He is still willing and able to heal the body, as well as the soul and spirit, in response to faith (Mark 16: 17-18; James 5:14-16).

LIFE.

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES – We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God; it is absolutely true, enduring, and unchangeable (2 Timothy 3:16-17. Matthew 24:35).

TITHES & OFFERINGS – We believe the method ordained of God for the support of the local church and the spreading of the Gospel message is the giving of tithes and offerings to your local church (Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7).

DAILY CHRISTIAN LIFE – We believe that it is the will of God for believers to walk in progressive sanctification, growing continuously in the faith (Hebrews 6:1).

BAPTISM & THE LORD’S SUPPER – We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4). We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s Supper by the symbolical use of bread and the fruit of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:24-25).

MODERATION – We believe that people who follow Christ should avoid the extremes of fanaticism and pursue lives of balance and moderation, demonstrating gentleness and patience (Philippians 4:5, KJV; Colossians 3:12-13).

EVANGELISM – We believe that the church’s primary responsibility is taking the gospel to the entire world and making disciples (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19-20).

COMMUNITY  – We believe that followers of Christ have a sacred duty to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ and should meet regularly with fellow believers as the early church did (Acts 2; Hebrews 10:24-25).

CIVIL GOVERNMENT – We believe that laws and ordinances come from God’s ultimate authority and should be upheld, except when they are in opposition to the revealed will of God (Romans 13:1-5).

WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP MINISTRY – We believe in, encourage, support and even champion women in leadership ministry – one of Imagine’s lead pastors and main teaching pastor is a woman, and our church’s denomination (Foursquare) was started by a woman.  ( Matthew 28:1-10; Acts 2:17-18; Galatians 3:26-29)

HOLY SPIRIT.

THE ETERNAL GODHEAD (TRINITY) – We believe in the Trinity of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The three parts of the Trinity are coexistent and coeternal, which means that they always have existed and always will exist together; they are coequal in divine perfection, which means that no person of the Trinity is more powerful or more perfect than any other person in the Trinity (1 John 5:7).

BAPTISM WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT – We believe that the baptism with the Holy Spirit is an experience that follows salvation. All believers have a portion of God’s Spirit within them. However, being “baptized” means that the Holy Spirit is present in a new dimension. Holy Spirit baptism empowers believers to exalt Jesus, to live lives of holiness, and to be witnesses of God’s saving grace. We believe that those who experience Holy Spirit baptism today will experience it in the same manner that believers experienced it in the early church; in other words, we believe that they will speak in tongues—languages that are not known to them (Acts 1: 5-8; 2:4).

THE SPIRIT-FILLED LIFE – We believe that born-again believers should be people who pray and who allow the Holy Spirit to shape their values and behaviors every day; their lives should exemplify love, honesty and sincerity (Ephesians 4:30-32).

THE GIFTS & FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT – We believe that the Holy Spirit gives ministry gifts to believers; in other words, the Holy Spirit gives people special abilities for ministry. These gifts will build up groups of believers and help them mature in Christian faith (1 Corinthians 12:1-11). Further, Spirit-filled believers should show the spiritual “fruit” that has been given to them: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness,Faithfulness & Self-control (Romans 12:6-8; Galatians 5:22-25).

ETERNITY.

THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST – We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent; we are as certain that His second coming will occur as we are that His first coming is a historical fact. No one knows the exact time of His coming, but believers will continue to spread the gospel around the world until He does come again. At that time the Lord Himself will descend from heaven, the dead Christians will be resurrected, and believers will be taken up to meet the Lord in the air (Matthew 24:36, 42, 44; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

FINAL JUDGEMENT – We believe that everyone will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Born-again believers will be sent to a place of everlasting life, and nonbelievers will be sent to a place of everlasting punishment (Revelation 20:11-12; 2 Corinthians 5:10).

HEAVEN – We believe that heaven is the habitation of the living God and the eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:2; Revelation 7:15-17).

HELL – We believe that hell is a place of darkness, deep sorrow and unquenchable fire, which was not prepared for man but for the devil and his angels; it will become the place of eternal separation from God for all who reject Christ as Savior (Matthew 13: 41-42; Revelation 20:10-15).

OUR MOTTO

HOW CAN I HELP?

HOW CAN I HELP? - PERMISSION. POWER. PROVISION. PROTECTION.

The people of IMAGINE choose to always be asking the question “How can I help?” or corporately “How can we help?”. We want this question to be on the tip of our tongues in every situation.

– Community Builders can be asking the people they are serving in their community.
– Community members can be asking this to their Community Builders.
– Your IMAGINE Community as a whole could be asking this to the city, culture, lifestyle or social mosaic you are called to reach.

The old saying goes, “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care”.  The open ended question, “How can I/we help?” (with space at the end for us to REALLY listen), is so fundamental in really showing people that you are listening and that you care.  This does not mean that we can always meet everyone’s needs, and we can never sacrifice our families or own well being to rescue everyone that needs help. But when we listen and do whatever we feel like God wants us to do to help, the Holy Spirit steps in and does the rest.  This is not a rescue question it is a  listening exercise.

Nehemiah 2:1-9 Early the following spring, in the month of Nisan, during the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes’ reign, I was serving the king his wine. I had never before appeared sad in his presence. So the king asked me, “Why are you looking so sad? You don’t look sick to me. You must be deeply troubled.” Then I was terrified, but I replied, “Long live the king! How can I not be sad? For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and the gates have been destroyed by fire.”The king asked, “Well, how can I help you?”

With a prayer to the God of heaven, I replied, “If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.”The king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked, “How long will you be gone? When will you return?” After I told him how long I would be gone, the king agreed to my request (Permission, Agreement, Sending, Calling, Release, fulfillment, etc.).I also said to the king, “If it please the king, let me have letters addressed to the governors of the province west of the Euphrates River, instructing them to let me travel safely through their territories on my way to Judah. (Power, Wisdom, Passage, Open Doors, Guidance, Direction, etc.) And please give me a letter addressed to Asaph, the manager of the king’s forest, instructing him to give me timber. I will need it to make beams for the gates of the Temple fortress, for the city walls, and for a house for myself.” And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me (Provision, Favor, Resources, etc.).When I came to the governors of the province west of the Euphrates River, I delivered the king’s letters to them. The king, I should add, had sent along army officers and horsemen to protect me. (Protection, Angels, Armor of God, etc.)

  • The King to Nehemiah – This story of Nehemiah being asked by the King – “How can I help?”, is an amazing example of our relationship with God. The scripture tells us that He will give us the desires of our heart.  Nehemiah was heavy hearted about his hometown being destroyed and he wanted Permission to go and do what was on his heart. He wanted to have the Power of the king’s letters to open doors for the journey. He wanted Provision and supplies to accomplish his vision/calling/dreams and he wanted Protection as he did what he felt God wanted him to do.  The king granted all of it.
  • God to Us– The scriptures tell us all over the place how God will grant the desires of our heart, how He gives us dreams and visions, how He spurs us on to good deeds, how He lays things on our hearts… Then he says, “How can I Help?” What an amazing God we serve.  He gives us Permission (Agreement, Sending, Calling, Release, fulfillment, etc.), Power (Wisdom, Passage, Open Doors, Guidance and Direction through Holy Spirit, etc.), Provision (Favor, Resources, etc.) and Protection (Angels, Armor of God, etc.)to go out and do what He has called us to do. “We can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us”.
  • Us to Others– In UNITY with others (Community) there is a power, a breakthrough, a steadfastness, accountability and a release of God’s favor to accomplish WAY more then we could ever do or IMAGINE on our own.  This is why the question, “How can I help?” is so crucial in our IMAGINE COMMUNITIES.  We have the Holy Spirit in us. We have the power that raised Jesus from the Grave. We were created for good works and in His image.  All of this is already in those of us that are saved.  When we ask others, “How can I Help?”, God will give us some way of helping.  There is some kind of Permission (Agreement, Sending, Calling, Release, fulfillment, etc.) that we can help unfold in their lives.  There is some kind of Power (Wisdom, Passage, Open Doors, Guidance and Direction through Holy Spirit, etc.) that we can pass on to them.  There is some kind of Provision (Favor, Resources, etc.) we can give.  And there is great Protection (Angels, Armor of God, etc.) we can release with intercession, fasting and praying (Or literally going with them on there mission for the purpose of being a strength and protection for them.)
  • It Starts with You/Me – It is hard for a lot of people to be vulnerable and ask for help or receive help from others. Sometimes it is even hard for us to ask and receive help from God. We like to do things in our own strength.  We have to be open to this.  We model this as leaders by being vulnerable (First).  As Nehemiah did, sharing our dreams, calling, passions, etc. with people and letting them ask us “How can I help?”, then being able to receive that help. Right after the King asked Nehemiah, “How can I help?” in verse 4 Nehemiah said, “With a prayer to the God of Heaven, I replied, ‘If it pleases the king, let me go and rebuild the city’.  I bet he prayed because he knew there was a chance the King would laugh at him or mock him or say things like, “Why do you dream so big, you will never accomplish that” or “No, you are my servant and you can not leave my side”.  But with prayer Nehemiah had the boldness to speak out his vision and dreams even in the midst of not knowing how it would be perceived. So let us be vulnerable enough to receive help and bold enough to ask others, “How can I help?”.
  • An Imagine Community to each other
    1. Picture a Local Imagine Community in Los Angeles calling each other during wildfires to make sure everyone is ok asking each other, “How Can I Help?”. Do people, who have been evacuated need a place to stay? Does anyone need food?  The possibilities are endless.
    2. Picture a Virtual Imagine Artist Community full of touring/traveling musicians, comedians, entertainers, etc. sharing life and going to church together from all over the world.  They are all ages and have different types of art, but they all understand and get the lifestyle of doing their art in a full time fashion.  They know the kinds of questions to ask because they are living it.  The question “How Can I Help?” goes a long way.  “O man, Your bands trailer just had a flat tire outside of Denver?  I know someone in Denver. Let me call them and have them come help you.”.  “Hey guys, HOW CAN WE HELP? this comedian friend of mine find places to stay when she goes on her next tour?”. “HOW CAN I HELP? another artist get ready for the touring life or transition out of the touring life back into home life?”.  The possibilities are endless.
    3. Picture a Virtual Imagine Cancer Community full of people who currently have cancer or survivors of cancer.  12 people connecting virtually for church because it is really hard and dangerous to make it to a church building full of people.  Pictures them asking each other, “How Can I Help?”.  “I have been through chemotherapy before, “How can I Help?”, “I have family in Houston and I know you don’t have anyone to take you to appointments.  Let me ask some of my family what they can do.” “When is your next follow up?  We will be praying.” The possibilities are Endless.
  • An Imagine Community to the city/culture/lifestyle/occupation or neighborhood you are reaching
    1. Picture a Local Imagine Community of 13 people in Las Vegas asking each other, “How can we help our city/neighborhood?”. 13 people asking the neighbors around them how they can help. Conversations of life and hope will happen. Picture these 13 people scheduling an appointment with Mayer Goodman and saying, “Hey, we are community of Faith and we have pulled together $1,000 over the last year, what can we do to help the city with this $1,000?”. What if these 13 people when to the closest police department to ask the chief what equipment they could buy the force with this money?  This $1,000 could also buy a lot of chili and cornbread to feed the homeless population down the street.  The possibilities are endless.
    2. Picture a virtual Imagine Community of 15 people trying to reach and love full time RVers. RVers who cannot have a church community around them because they are always on the road in different places every month.  What if they started asking everyone they meet along the way, “How can we help?”.  “The AC in your RV went out and it is July, Holy Crap… Let me call my church community people ask scrounge up some money to help you”.
    3. Picture 15 Truckers on a zoom call talking about some of the sex trafficking they have seen out on the open roads. “How can we help?”… can we research places that are rescuing sex traffic victims and pick one for our Imagine Truckers Community to support?  The possibilities are endless.

God will use our faithfulness to change lives when we ask the question, “How can I/we help?” – #imaginethepossibilities
